England 2013 | Indulging

Indulge: To allow oneself to follow one's will

Every summer I go on an annual trip back to England (where i'm originally from) and just chill out, catch up with family and of course go shopping. But this year was a little more hectic as I had to visit my university and sort out a whole load of stuff so in September i don't freak out! About 2 day's into my holiday my exam results were due, which i was very much freaking out about but as you can probably tell by my good mood....i did quite well ;) Which of course meant a celebration!

Champagne in the garden

Strawberry Daiquiris at the proms

I spent the evening at the Prom's (A classical music show.. I know so english of me) which compared to how I would have celebrated back in HK, it's a little different but it was very nice to be with all my family again! The night ended with a beautiful fireworks show which i took 10000 photos of, but this was the only one that came out nicely.

Yay! goodbye IB.
Since I haven't really been feeling my usual happy self I decided that this summer I would treat myself to whatever I wanted because well.. what girl doesn't deserve to feel like a princess? So I became my own best friend and allowed myself to really indulge in what life had to offer.

Relaxing bubble baths to clear away the stress

Food
One of the best ways to cheer yourself up when you're down is of course food, allowing your taste buds to have a party. And oh boy, did I throw them a rave!

[Warning: May cause extreme hunger]

Vanilla bean smoothie with fresh whipped cream
Fresh seaside donuts (traditional england)
Toffee profiteroles with vanilla ice-cream
Milk and white chocolate cheesecake
My very own dish, chicken and broccoli pasta with a mushroom and garlic source.
Fairground candy shop

Shopping

Another one of life's guilty pleasures, especially for me! Some may say I am a shopaholic, but isn't every girl deep down? I almost feel sad when I leave a shop without finding at least one thing to buy. But I decided to change my style a little bit as i usually find myself wanting quantity not quality, so I spent my hard earned cash (not really) on more designer and classier things.

First ever MAC lipstick, once you go MAC you never go back ;)
The only thing to help me stop biting my nails is the though of wearing these beauties.
Full Zara outfit that I fell in love with in the changing room
Overall this holiday was a great get away from all of life's problems (well some of them at least) and I am now ready to enjoy my last few weeks in Hong Kong before heading off back to England to start my new life!

Graduation Trip: Koh Samui

Since exams and graduation were all over and done, it was really time to celebrate! For many international school's in Hong Kong it is a long tradition to visit Koh Samui (Thailand) for gradtrip, which is exactly what I did! On 18/6/2013 my bestfriend and I hopped onto a plane and set off on our adventure.

I will never forget how strange it was to walk into Samui airport, it looked more like a hotel then an airport, with its wooden roofs and hundreds of trees. Once we arrived with our matching luggage in hand and not a care in the world it was time to find our hotel and explore before it got too dark!

The hotel which we called home for the next week was room 119, AL's Resort and although it was a little less then a 10 minute walk down the beach to the main meeting spot, it was good to have somewhere to get escape too when things got hectic. Our room was really nice, except for the bathroom, but you only need to pee in there though! The resort was right on Chaweng beach, which made tanning opportunities for us extremely frequent and made us a short walk away from anywhere important (the bars)!

Many of our day's consisted of recovering from a hangover while tanning on the beach, which i believe is the best cure ;). To describe the beach as perfect would be an understatement, with waters so clear you could see everything in them, to sand so soft and golden you could just sleep in it. We also spent our lazy afternoons bobbing around in the pool when we wanted to get away from the constant buzz of people selling bracelets and bikinis to people throwing monkey's at you (especially when they attack you)! We did have the joys of a little day drinking one afternoon, but lets just say the night didn't end too well...

Kohsa night's however were anything but relaxing! With cheap alcohol, great music and amazing company, who wouldn't want to party? Which is why we went out every night....(and why we didn't do much in the day). What i loved most about partying there was that we could wear flipflops and tank tops and no one would care. This made the whole experience so much better because everyone just wanted a good time (it was also perfect for showing off my new tan)! The "free glow paint when you buy a drink" at this club called Flow was also very exciting for me, as you can see i made sure i was covered in it every night! "The more the merrier". Because Kohsa was a tradition for all international schools in HK, it was very easy to run into people you knew, (this was a good and bad thing at times) but all in it every night seemed to bring new excitement and expectations! OH and i almost forgot to mention the laughing gas, what would i have done without it? whenever you needed a quick positivity boost on a night out it was there for you!

How could i forget to mention the huge variety of food Thailand had to offer, just on the beach alone they had; fruit, crepes, seafood, corn ect, which they would cook right in front of you for less then $10HKD! I almost feel mad at myself for not indulging on the traditional thai cuisine for the first two nights, but i sure made up for it for the extra 4 nights! And yes coconut water does taste better if you drink it from an actual coconut. I was also super happy to find that my favorite dish (Thai green curry) tastes so much better in Thailand, so i just had to pick myself up a pack of curry paste to take home!

Although I didn't take any photos from the notorious Full Moon Party, I did take a picture of the moon (which is the next best thing ;) ) A perfect word to describe the night....WOW. Firstly we had to take a little speed boat to a separate island which was buzzing with glow in the dark paint, shirts and even drinks! It was a little walk from the pier to the bar area, which was a perfect time to apply some pink neon paint (my bestfriend and I had a little pink theme going on). Once we got to the bars, which were located all the way down the beach it was hard to choose which one to go in! We decided upon a club called Cactus, as many people we knew were there. The club was surrounded by.. yes you guessed it cactus's (i had to learn that the hard way :( ) The party was so crazy but so fun and I even got to take a trip down a flaming water slide from one of the bars roof! We finished our night at around 6am, just in time to watch the sunrise! and thankfully none of us had to pay a visit to the "sleeping area" (yes that actually existed!). I would love to say our night ended on a high, but the fact that our 7am speedboat crashed into rocks made it rather scary! But all in all it was a fabulous, drama free, paint full, night/morning!

I even got a little bit of henna done on the beach and as much as i wish it was a real tattoo i am just going to have a wait it out!

I would like to thank my bestfriend in the world molly, for making this holiday the most amazing and hilarious experience yet! From taking photos of people sleeping on the plane, to having inside jokes with random Irish guys and to only missing our free breakfast twice out of 6 days (im really proud of that!).  If this is what being independent feels like then bring it on. So happy to be graduated, so happy to be free, so happy to have all these unforgettable memories and so happy to have you in my life. Thank you Class of 2013 for making gradtrip so amazing, i look forward to partying with you all in the future! xxx
